Highland cow sewing patterns kept showing up when I was putting together my cow sewing pattern round up. Then I started noticing them everywhere: on tote bags, throw pillows, children’s books and more. Clearly highland cows are having a moment!
I’ll admit I knew nothing about highland cows, so I had to find out more. Highland cows are one of the oldest cattle breeds in the world, built to survive the harsh conditions of the Scottish Highlands. These days they’ve spread well beyond Scotland. There are even farms here in (flat, mild) Western Australia!

It’s not hard to see why they’re taking over the Internet. That lovable shaggy fringe flopping over their eyes and those crazy oversized horns!
