Give your child a set of tools without the risk of them actually damaging something (My husband pulled a tap off the bathroom wall when he was given real tools to play with – eek!)
It’s a fun project to sew for a baby boy toy (although you could also sew it more a baby girl!) and would make an adorable handmade baby shower gift. At approximately 6.7 inches (17cm) tall, it’s the perfect size for little hands to hold.

These toys would be a fun addition to a tool-themed nursery!

An SVG cutting file (for Cricut, Sihouette, Brother Scan’n’Cut or other craft cutting machines) is included as a bonus in the paid pattern.

- 1x Fat Quarter fabric (I used quilting cotton)
- Fiber Fill (or your preferred stuffing material)
- Coordinating thread
- General sewing supplies (sewing machine, scissors, pins, thread etc)
Instructions
Watch the video or scroll down for the photo tutorial:
Step 1: Cut out pattern pieces. You’ll need:
- 2 hammer pieces (mirrored set)
- 2 screwdriver pieces
- 2 spanner pieces

Step 2: Place pattern pieces right sides together and sew around the outside with a 1/4 inch (6mm) seam allowance, leaving a 1 to 1.5 inch gap.

Step 3: Clip the corners and curves, as shown in red below:

Step 4: Turn pattern pieces right sides out.

Step 5: Stuff with Fiber Fill (or your preferred stuffing). Since these are designed as baby and toddler play toys (rather than cuddly toys), stuff them firmly so they don’t end up too floppy.

Step 6: Hand-sew the opening closed with a ladder stitch.

And there you have a cute plush baby tool set, perfect for playtime:
