Sewing tools I own because they’re cute (but they work too!)
My collection of sewing tools and notions keeps growing, and I can’t resist when it comes to cute sewing supplies. I mean, if you have to pull out your seam ripper, it try to make you smile a little!
Some of these tools I’ve been lucky enough to receive as gifts (thanks family!), and others I just couldn’t resist to buy for myself.

But here’s the thing, these sewing supplies can’t just look cute. If a tool doesn’t actually work well, it quickly becomes more frustrating than fun. Here are the items I’ve found look good but also do the job!

Pretty seam ripper
This gorgeous seam ripper (and stiletto) was given to me as a gift by my husband. The handle is so much nicer to hold than a standard seam ripper and it’s just so pretty.
This one is from Pens by Woodwork and Whiskers, but there are lots of pretty seam ripper creators on Etsy.

Leaf head pins
Pins need to be functional, and these leaf pins are nice and sharp (and extra long). The flat heads are easy to hold on to, and the bright colours stand out on fabric.
No, I don’t put the pins back on the wheel when I’ve finished using them (who’s got time for that??), but they came in a two-pack and I haven’t needed this pack yet!

Purple Tape Measure
I received the Sew Sweet Jelly Tape Measure in as a bonus in a fabric subscription box. It’s such a pretty purple colour! It’s so helpful having inches and cms on the same side of the tape since I’m constantly switching between the two measurement systems!
Singer has a similar tape measure in a pretty pink colour.

Flower needle threaders
Threading needles can be such a pain and these flower needle threaders make it so much easier. They’re not just prettier than the standard wire threader, these ones don’t seem to pull apart as easily.

Unicorn scissors
I bought these unicorn scissors for my daughter when she first showed interest in sewing (and was obsessed with unicorns). The interest in sewing (and unicorns) fizzled out, so I kept them for myself!

Bird embroidery scissors
You can never have too many pairs of scissors in your sewing room (because they like to disappear just when you need them). There seems to be debate over whether these bird embroidery scissors are cranes or storks, but they’re perfect for quickly snipping threads at my sewing machine.
Glitter mascara wands
So not strictly a sewing supply, but something I keep near my sewing machines, these glitter mascara wands are great for picking up loose thread and lint in your sewing machine. Sure, you could get plain ones, but why not have cute ones?
